As of late, we've been studying the Constitution in my history class. In one of the articles, I saw the phrase "yeahs and nays". I thought it kind of reminded me of the neighs of horses. I mean, the people at the time were kind of like horses anyhow. They even wore wigs which sometimes have "ponytails" on them.

Nowadays, instead of yeah and nays, it would be thumbs up or thumbs down, or just raising your hand to vote for something (while everyone's heads are down on their desks so they can't see who's voting what), wouldn't it? It might be fun, though, to be asked an opinion, and then to have everyone say either "Yeah" or "Nay" all at once. I suppose it would be considered a waste of valuable class time, though.

Speaking of which, I caught sight of something which I wasn't supposed to have seen. It's not something inappropriate or anything, so don't worry about that. I forgot to print out my homework for language arts class, but I had my USB drive, so I asked my teacher if I could print it out with her laptop. While I was preparing to do that, I noticed she had a Skype window. She was chatting with my history teacher. At first I thought, "Oooh! Busted!" but then I realized it was probably work-related since there was some mention of a meeting. Besides, I'd be in trouble if the teacher realized I was snooping, hehe. So I guess that rumor about my history teacher spending time chatting with his girlfriend (who is a teacher as well, in a different school, wouldn't they both be fired then?!) is not true, it's just my language arts teacher.

For a long time I was meaning to post a drawing that I made, except I kept on forgetting about it, so now I'm only posting it practically a month after I drew it. XD (If you've been actively checking up on my DeviantArt you may have seen it earlier) This is a drawing, or, two drawings, of the character Haruhi Suzumiya. I am currently working on a piece of Hatsune Miku (using GIMP to digitally make lineart and color it in). I will post the original sketch and the finished version up when I'm done.

Just the other day it was my mom's birthday, so we went out to eat at a buffet called Tatami. It's in a mall, and it used to be called Todai, but apparently it was sold. D: My mom got her food free since it's her birthday. (You have to be accompanied by two "paying adults", though. But I count as an adult now, so it's fine. Too bad there's no more kid discounts. I have to wait until people believe I'm old so I can get the senior discounts on things like museum membership) I am a plain sort of person, so I just like to eat kappamaki (cucumber sushi) and Philadelphia rolls (basically, sushi with salmon and cream cheese in it).

Ah, but what I really liked was the cookies they have there. When I used to visit Todai, I always ate those cookies. The light-colored ones are the best. I thought they were supposed to be sugar cookies, but I'm not sure. My parents say the smell of milk is strong, so maybe they're just "milk cookies". I would like to be able to buy them, but I have never found them. (They're not Nilla wafers, anyhow) My mother thinks that they could be a personal recipe of the restaurant that was passed on when the owner sold Todai and it got changed to Tatami.

The restaurant has a chocolate fountain and a vanilla fountain now, you know, those miniature ones you can plug in. It's pretty cool. The kids were fond of it, of course. I tried dipping the milk cookies, bananas, and big marshmallows into it. What was funny was a sign that says, "Please do not dip your ice cream into the chocolate fountain". It must mean someone actually tried to put their ice cream cone in there. I wonder how they reacted when they were trying to hold the cone and there was chocolate sliding down it.

I have been thinking that although the town I live in has a hefty population, it's still not all that exciting, because of something we were talking about in French class... My teacher said, "We don't really have a downtown here, do we?" And another student replied, "The library!" If the library is our downtown, then we can't say much for ourselves, can we? XD All over the USA, though, not many people go to the library regularly, it seems. It's kind of saddening. My parents say more people go to the library in my town because they're frugal and don't want to buy books. (Rather, they waste their money on brand name things and cars. -_-;; )

That's a phrase which basically means "sleeping". Lately I've been able to sleep more since the weather is mild - not too hot and not too cold. Though I fall asleep around 11 pm, I wake up around 9 am (I have to get up then anyhow because of my summer classes) so I'm getting more sleep than during the regular school year (when I have to wake up before 8 am). It's made me feel a little more energetic, even if not too big a difference, and I'm glad of it. Maybe I could actually grow taller, something that has not been happening to me for a while...

...though one of my friends seems to have no problem growing. She's now increased her lead over me (Wow, when I talk like this, it sounds like swimming in the Olympics or something) and besides that my parents say they think she has lost some weight to boot. Her sister just looks kind of the same as always. It's probably because she has taller parents whereas my parents are kind of on the short side. My dad insists it's my mom's fault and my mom retorts that he's not exactly very tall himself...

I think my mom has way too many co-workers, classmates, and other assortments of acquaintances. She often goes a-visiting with them, and apparently she knows someone in Sydney, Australia who offered to take us around the city for a day. Even my dad seems to know a few people in Australia. (I guess it's because he used to live there and he was the only one who moved away? And that was because my mom "dragged "him) I wonder how my parents keep track of them all, but then again, it's not like they know my classmates, just like I don't really know their fellow people at work (unless I hear about them enough times).

I heard that my grandfather used to learn Japanese in school, which came as a surprise to me. I think it was because of something to do with Japanese were taking over China... He still knows a little bit, but it's kind of like my dad - my dad claims he knows German, but he really can only count from 1-10 by now.

We've had another death at my house recently. My blue balloon, which had the Earth drawn on it with Sharpie marker and which was hanging from a cord of the ceiling fan, popped all of a sudden, though it seemed like nothing was wrong with it. My mom says the over time the balloon's "skin" grew thinner until at last it couldn't handle it anymore. Something like that. I don't know very much of these matters, so if you understand it, let me know. Anyhow, it's a shame not to see that balloon hanging in my room anymore...It lived for a month.

When I went to the supermarket with my parents just the other day, I saw some chocolate milk buns - the kind that come six to a package which you can steam at home - and I was enraptured. It had such a beautiful brown swirly pattern. So my parents said we should buy them - though I tried to say "I'll use my allowance" (I barely keep track of it anymore. Ha, ha) - and when we were checking out, the cashier said "$1.99!" emphatically. My parents say that the cashier must've thought that was expensive. I thought, "Oh no! Maybe it is a bad deal to get only six buns for that price!" But still, there is nothing as cute as that among the buns at the supermarket.

Today was my first taste of mangoes in a long time. Some people say they like the fruit, and my mom bought them on sale, so my dad gave me some to eat. They were orange on the inside and if you take a closer look they seem slightly fuzzy or something. It even tastes like that. The taste isn't something I'm fond of so I've decided I still prefer green pears, blueberries, fresh bananas, plums, and peaches better. (Strawberries are good too but if they're big and taste funny that's not so nice.)

Has anyone heard all the abuzz about the swine flu? (I'm sure at least most of you have, but just in case someone lives under a rock, or something like that...) The symptoms seem pretty similar to an ordinary sickness, if you ask me, and some people are wondering "What's the big deal?" because the ordinary flu kills way more people than the swine flu, at least so far, but still, it is a new disease, so it merits interest. Also, my dad says there are some rumors that the swine flu actually started in California and not Mexico. I hope it's not true since I don't want it to be near me. I just hope this disease can be stopped, before, as President Obama says, it grows into "something worse".

I must have some kind of problem with using bandages or something. In the past whenever I put on a bandage it would stay there until it started to peel off after a few days. But nowadays whenever I sleep the bandage somehow gets detached. When I wake up the bandage (which I put on that place where your upper and lower leg connect) has somehow disappeared. The reason why I put on a bandage was since having constant rashes made my skin start to come apart. It looks kind of creepy. Most of the time I can ignore if but sometimes it feels itchy or starts aching. So I put on a bandage to try and let it heal, yet I can't get it to stay. I think I'm going to give up, I don't want to use up a whole box of them. D:

My mother has undergone a gradual transformation, kind of like a silkworm turning into a chubby moth. When I was younger, she was quite frugal and rarely bought clothes, unless they were very cheap. She always kept tons of coupons around. Sometimes I would help her by cutting out coupons with scissors. Even now she still has so many coupons, flyers, and all that so she needs to keep them in a cloth bag which keeps spilling, but she has bought many clothes. (Of course, it was on sale and stuff, but still) Some rather ugly looking things from Old Navy (no offense to the store, but one of the jackets she bought looked kind of like a bloated, ripply trash bag) and a rather bright green shirt from Banana Republic, and also something from Talbots (which is a women's clothing place, I've seen it, the changing rooms were cool since they had fans and nice mirrors and picture frames on the wall (the pictures were those fashion design sketches which they make to brainstorm a good idea).

Even worse, she started talking to me about a store that sold glass and crystal items. Actually, that's not too bad since it looks very shiny, but the problem is, my mom wanted us to pick out three different pieces of jewelry for $99. (It's a deal since I think one piece is like $45 or something) Before she barely bought jewelry, except for this one time she got a blue topaz necklace (it is my favorite of her jewelry) and also a ruby necklace from a website (I don't like it since it was cheap and the gems are small and not shiny). Then we ended up picking three. I would've liked to buy a bottle ship, though, or flowers made of crystal. They were more colorful and detailed than just plain jewelry which you can get almost anywhere. By the way, the store is not Swarovski but it does sell some of Swarovski's stuff. (Swarovski is a cool place you might find in malls around the world. It sells lots of shiny things.)

And last of all, my mom dropped a not-so-subtle hint that Mother's Day was coming up. I asked my dad to be sure and it's actually next Sunday. AAAAAHHH! For the first time, she really expects me to give her something! The only gift we ever got for her before was some cards I made at school when I was younger, and a green Care Bear plushie, and also a fake flowerpot thing, and a car (but that's useful to everyone, so...) I can't decide what to get her. Help? Maybe I could get her a new portable DVD player, or drama CDs, or more jewelry, or a giftcard? (She gets books and dramas from the library most of the time anyways.)

I'm so glad it rained today! It's been so long since the last time it rained (February? March? Maybe somewhere around there?) that my skin has been dry for a long time. I've always suffered from skin problems, even in my baby pictures. When I was still really young, I smiled, but when I got a little older I had a terrible rash on my forehead and I cried in all the pictures. XD

We went to the flea market this morning, and I bought an orchid. I like to spend my money, even if whatever I bought wasn't particularly useful. D: Then it started to rain, and my mom and grandma got really scared by it. I guess my grandma is scared of the sun, the rain, dogs, cats, ants... Maybe it's partially genetic.
