I don't actually know if this is a real term already or not, but I made it up, spur of the moment. It still seems to be in full swing at my school, anyhow. The theme of the most recent dance had Michael Jackson's Thriller as its theme. Also, just the other day, I noticed that there was a new poster on the door of the girl's locker room. It said "RIP Michael Jackson 1958-2009" among other things like "I'm Bad" (reference to his song, I suppose) and there was a picture of a tombstone and two hands sticking out of the ground. I thought the arms looked very fake, but I guess that's good since it would be creepy to see someone's arms sticking out of their grave after they've died. D: Oh yeah, and sometimes, like on Wednesdays when we're doing "boot camp", Michael Jackson music is played. Especially that one that mentions sunlight or something like that.
Recently I also saw a commercial where some people in costumes were dancing, I think it was advertising a store. They played the Thriller song in the background. But there was no moonwalking. D: Moonwalking is when Michael Jackson appears to be walking backward almost like he's being dragged by an invisible force. Well, it's hard to describe, so look it up if you aren't sure. I always thought the moonwalk was cool but I can't do it at all.
I, however, am devoted to a different kind of Jacksonism entirely! Instead, I am a big fan of one of my teachers, Mrs. Jackson, who was my language arts teacher last year. She's a great teacher - has a sense of humor, but can also teach well, and plus she has shiny buttons on one of her shirts. (Of course, that last one doesn't make much sense, does it?) I wonder if she would be creeped out or flattered if she knew that she was my role model. XD
I was sorely tempted to join her new Leadership class this year (it's different from last year's, we'll be more involved in the community instead of planning dances and making calendars like the year before) except for one thing - It was in Zero Period! This means I would have to get up an hour earlier and go to school. I really would hate to do that because of my experience at the beginning of seventh grade. I had chosen Intermediate Orchestra as my elective, but it was combined with Advanced, which was in Zero Period. At first I tried to bear with it, but it made me way too busy, and tired. So I gave that up and pulled out of orchestra, much to my chagrin. There is nothing like orchestra, even if applied arts and French are fine electives.
Well, on to other news. Today the whole eighth grade went on a field trip to the theater at the local college to see a play. The play consisted, actually, of four different stories, "The Tell-Tale Heart", "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", "The Monkey's Paw", "The Necklace", and "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County". The first three stories can all be considered horror, so I was not too fond of them. My personal favorite was The Necklace, a rather ironic story about a French woman who longs for the aristocratic lifestyle but gets just the opposite. The big problem was, in The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, there wasn't a real frog! Not even a cute stuffed animal! But instead, they had an actor dress up as a frog... -_-;; I know it would be really hard to try to make a fake frog move, unless they used special technology (like robots?), but it's still a mighty shame.
Lately, I have been addicted to eating True North crisps. I've eaten the Almond type and the Pistachio type. (After all, almonds and pistachios are two of the nuts that I'm not allergic to) They are oddly addicting. I like the taste better than regular old chips (like Doritos, Sun Chips, Lays, Cheetos, Pringles, and whatnot). I should stop eating them, though. It's bad for my health to eat too many of them and I won't have any appetite for dinner. D:

It's certainly something I am not capable of. Have you ever heard of Michael Jackson's "Moonwalk"? It's really cool. He seems to be sliding backwards while making walking motions with his feet. My dad says that you can probably do it with lots and lots of practice, but I've been attempting it and it looks awkward. I end up getting my socks dirty. XD I guess I am not cut out to be a moonwalker.
Currently I am working on a new avatar for Crunchyroll. I think it will turn out very shiny, so look forward to seeing it (or you can dread it, it's your choice). I'll probably upload it to my Photobucket and Deviantart and also Crunchyroll so once I'm done it'll be there. I guess I could post it on my blog but then it would make you have to do even more scrolling to read the posts. So I figure it's best that way. (There are links to the places at the right side of my blog for your convenience)
Right now the anime I am watching is La Corda d'Oro Primo Passo. If you know classical music then this anime may catch your interest. For instance, songs such as Fantasie-Impromptu and Ave Maria can be heard in the anime. The anime is okay but later on it gets annoying especially since the main character, Kahoko Hino, gets depressed and panicky and things like that since she doesn't want to expose the fact that her violin is magical (therefore, even being a complete beginner at playing the instrument, she is good at it). Anyways, I'm probably confusing you if you haven't seen the anime (or read the manga?) so you should investigate if you want to watch it.
My family entertained guests for two days in a row. On Friday, July 3, my dad's friend's family (they come over quite often since they don't live in Canada like they used to) and also an acquaintance of my dad's came over. They ate dinner and talked a lot while my dad's friend's son went off by himself, either watching the Star Wars movie on television or just doing who-knows-what. My dad's acquaintance (I call him that since I'm not sure how well he knows my dad and anyhow he is quite a bit younger) is addicted to the piano and keyboard. At first he just tried to play the keyboard but someone must've opened up the piano for him to use. He was attempting to play my songs. He told my mom that he used to learn piano but he stopped after elementary school and now I have overpassed him in level. He said he regretted not learning for a longer time. I guess a lot of people resent having piano lessons, and I did sometimes - when I was younger I'd rip my music or hit the piano if I was frustrated - but it's something you don't miss until it's gone. You know what I mean?
The other time was on Saturday, July 4, when my family went to a buffet for lunch with their friends. It's called Villa 08 and I think it's in Mountain View. It's kind of a freaky place. The ceiling is high and is painted a rather odd color (it's blue, I think, which is rare to see). It's the food that really disturbs me. There are things like shark fin soup and frog legs! My dad got some shark fin soup. He showed me what the shark's fin looks like in the soup. It's like transparent goop. I just drank some ox tail soup since I'd been told that was tasty.

I've seen so many animal deaths by roadkill lately. Just today I saw something strange on the road. It looked like squirrel guts...Scary. So that makes three squirrels and one deer run over on the road recently. Do you know what my mom had to say about seeing a dead deer? First she said, "Why aren't people more careful? Probably the deer was killed at night when people have to rely on the headlights, but there's even a yellow sign that shows a picture of a deer crossing." Then she added, "It's worse to kill a deer than a squirrel. It could damage the car." This really surprised me, because I thought she was going to say something like how there are more squirrels than deer in the area anyways, but she talked about cars getting damaged. Never mind the car! Cars aren't even alive! Think about the animal that died. That animal was someone's sister or brother, someone's mother or father, someone's child. And now that life is gone. That's why in the anime/manga XXXHolic, Yuuko says there is no way you can ever pay for taking a life. It is a very heavy burden. (Pssh, though, some people hunt ducks for fun. Seriously.)
I have realized recently that I don't know much about celebrities, because my dad was watching a movie called Wanted. He watches tons of movies, I probably couldn't name them all. He's watched some James Bond movies, and Ocean 11/12/13 movies, and mostly foreign movies particularly from France. Wanted is a movie that features Angelina Jolie and some other dude who I don't know about.
Me: Hey, isn't that Lara Croft?
Dad: No, it's not. This movie is called Wanted.
Me: Oh. I thought it was Lara Croft.
Dad: It's Angelina Jolie. She plays Lara Croft.
Me: *has a D: face* I didn't know that.
Speaking of celebrities, there's been two deaths recently. The less noted one was Farrah Fawcett, who is an actress. Her kind of hairstyle is named after her. I heard that she'd been fighting cancer for years and finally succumbed. So people who were close to her had realized it was only a matter of time...Sad to die from such a sickness, caused by your own body, no less! And the other death is much more well-known: MICHAEL JACKSON.
He was 50 years old when he died. He's a male African American singer who had multiple brothers and a sister, but he's the most famous of them. (He's had plastic surgery, so that's why some say he looks...well...odd.) But you know, even my dad had listened to his music a long time ago, back when he was young and lived in China. He would listen to a radio station called The Voice of America and that's how he heard Michael Jackson's music. I guess it's true when my painting teacher said Michael's music had reached farther than just the USA. It had touched the world. (I know, that sounds cheesy) Apparently, Michael died of cardiac arrest. My father says that he was not healthy, but it's possible there was some foul play (meaning someone caused or contributed to Michael's death. Suspicious! So police are trying to talk to Michael's personal doctor, the only one present when Michael had collapsed). Anyhow, rest in peace for both of them. What an unlucky day yesterday was.
I don't want to be depressing you all too much. Instead, I'd like to share with you a really awesome game! It's called "Who Wants to Live a Million Years" and it's fairly simple. You pick three animals to start with and you hope they live as long as possible in a changing environment. (You can use life preservers if you think you're doomed) Here's the link to it.
