I often have trouble finding desktop backgrounds I like. I may have complained about this in earlier posts...The screen resolution of my computers makes it hard to find a background. Even my old laptop, which I used to use a few years ago before it got slow and keyboard started deteriorating, doesn't have the 1024x768 resolution that is common of backgrounds, so I could never really find a good one. The background would get stretched out and ugly on the screen, or I'd have to "tile" it. (You may understand what I mean if you have spent time picking backgrounds a lot) This is the link to a site I found which has some nice widescreen, big wallpapers. They are mostly nature backgrounds, though. Click here

There is the possibility I could try to get a summer job. A friend of a friend has her own company, Gal with the Bleu Umbrella, or just Bleu Umbrella Co. The website link is here. Click here It looks pretty cool. Anyhow, there's two jobs you can have, either model or freelancer. Certainly I am not model material (except for that funny time in Mr. Blair's class, when he said "This person will be a model" and picked out MY name XD) so I suppose I will be a freelancer. Apparently, if I apply for the job and get accepted, I'd do things like host stuff for the Bleu Umbrella Co. Anyhow, it's worth a shot trying to get a job; I would like to be able to make some money so I am not always depending on my parents. They work hard and I want them to relax since they are "getting on in their age".

I've just started reading a book called The Prophet of Yonwood, by Jeanne DuPrau (from the books of Ember series, and I have talked about them in a previous post somewhere). On the cover many birds made a strange shape. At first I thought it was a fish, pointing downward, but then I took a look and said, "Wait a minute! That's not a fish tail! That's a nuclear bomb!" Here's links to two pictures so you can see what I mean.

My mom cares a lot about getting good deals on things. When she came back from Las Vegas before, she brought me a present, a plush dolphin! I love dolphins. They are my favorite animal. But then I took one look at it and thought right away that I'd seen it before. It had been on sale at Rite Aid for several dollars less than my mom had bought it for. My mom was quite mortified and had a rather strained look on her face. I know I'd want to save money whenever I can, especially if I'm getting the same exact product. But oh well. I like to imagine I am "adopting" stuffed animals and saving them from certain doom. (It's a great exaggeration, though.)

I came up with a scientific experiment you can try at home with bottles of shampoo, conditioner, or body wash. Oftentimes it is hard to get out the substance you want to use if there is not much of it left in the container. So, since most containers are designed to have the lid thing facing the ceiling, you'll have to wait a while for the shampoo/conditioner/body wash to fall all the way down so you can squirt it out. Instead, swing it backward towards your shoulder, then with one powerful movement swing it back forward. The momentum and the kinetic energy together make the shampoo/conditioner/body wash quickly move to the other end of the bottle. This worked with a Softsoap Honey and Milk bodywash but it didn't work with the Vanilla Organic Conditioner since it is so thick and dry, nowhere near liquidy enough.

It's been such a long time since I've last posted...I've been busy with projects (A children's story in language arts, and I made the pages too big, so I have to draw huge pictures for it, and also a booklet in science about geologic history). But not only that, there's the evil TurboTax!

TurboTax is a program which my dad uses at least once or twice a year to take care of all the taxes our family has to pay. My dad takes out a lot of papers and stares at the computer screen until his face becomes angry. While doing TurboTax he's always grumpy, so he either won't respond when you talk to him, or he'll pick fights. Like if you hang around the computer he starts asking in an angry way, "Do you want to use the computer or not?!" And when I say no he just gets even madder. It's really scary and my mom doesn't like it either. I think he might need some anger management books.

My dad has started watching drama sometimes too. There is this one show in Mandarin which he will watch some evenings. The music is repetitive and there doesn't seem to be a lot of different songs. It is cheesy music but kind of catchy in a weird way. One time the music played while one of the characters on the TV was answering their phone (which had a rather generic ringtone). I thought it was bad timing to play the background music at a time like that.

On Friday, my history teacher was looking pretty upset. Mr. Blair had new glasses and his face was very angry and serious, so he looked scary. I heard someone stole a can of Coca Cola out of Mr. Blair's mini-fridge. I don't think that's the only reason, though. He wouldn't look that upset over just one can of soda, would he? Unless it was like a Gatorade bottle where you might've won something. and he won some kind of sweepstakes.

Sometimes I change the background multiple times a day if I'm not pleased with it, and other times I last several weeks or even months until I feel the urge to change it. For some reason I just really like to change the background... But it's really hard to find one that fits my screen resolution, which, by the way, is pretty hard. (My resolution is 1440 x 900)

For some reason I am so thirsty today... Even if I drink water, my mouth and throat feel rather dry. Maybe I'm dehydrated because of the medicine ball mile we ran in class. It's an activity unique to Mr. Robinson's PE class. You have to run part of the lap around the track while holding either one heavy ball or two slightly lighter ones. Then for another part of the lap, you walk (or run, if you like) while holding the ball up above your head, using both hands. You're not supposed to let the ball touch your head, and you can't just hold it with only one hand (unless you have two balls). Then for the rest of the lap, you "side-shuffle". Since you have a partner, you either jumprope or hop up and down the stairs while they run a lap, then you run another lap. So it goes on for 8 laps, making a mile for each.

The ball looks like it is light, but it weighs more in reality. Since I have a lack of arm muscles, I can't really hold it up well, so then I sweated like crazy, kind of like bacon sizzling in the hot sun. Minus the meat part. Since people are very pushy, I didn't get to write down my time on the clipboard until the lunch bell was about to ring, because of it, and had to make a run for the lunch line to see if there was anything left. D: I kind of miss Blair and Nakamura with their lax standards.

Right now I'm reading a book called A String in the Harp by Nancy Bond. It's alright as books go, though it does seem to take an awfully long time (at least to me, because I'm not patient). I don't like to read very long books or watch long animes. Same thing with my mom, but instead regarding Asian dramas. I guess we both like to see different plots and characters rather than have to stick to one for a long time.

I've heard rumors that Pokemon Platinum is going to come out soon...Is that so? I am not sure of the exact date since I forgot about it for several months until I heard about it on the Internet. I have multiple Pokemon games, but I'm afraid if I buy more, I won't have time to play them. XD I mean, usually I'm addicted to a game at first, and then I become bored of it or I'm busy. So I'm afraid I'm not making the most of my video games, hehe.
